My Pyramid Food Data Analysis

Introduction

Provided by the Food & Nutrition Service (FNS), my pyramid food dataset provides information regarding the calories, added sugars and milk content of different food items including condiments. These facts are necessary for both the provider and the consumer as the latter has the right to know how to meet the recommended dietary allowance of each food and the number of calories acquired. CNPP used this dataset as a reference to create an interactive tool for consumers to use on a regular basis.

The analysis was carried out on the "lu_Condiment_Food_Table" dataset which is one of the three datasets published by the FNS. The dataset has 63 condiments used in meals along with their corresponding portion size, grain content, meat content, calories content and many other features.

A thorough exploration of the data was done and the following insights were concluded:

- The dataset has 22 different features and 63 rows.

- All fields have numeric data types except the "Display_Name" & "Condiment_Portion_Size" which are string fields.

- All fields are complete in the dataset, there're no null values.

- All food items have calories in them.

- The food item with the lowest amounts of all additives is "1% milk (low fat).

- Brown sugar, vinegar, lemon juice, white sugar (granulated or lump) and honey are the only condiments that have zero saturated fats.
